Slow Cooker Saturday

Football is back. Fall is back.

So the slow cooker came out for this Football Fun Day.

I get excited when I use ingredients I've never used before.

Sure, I've made Kalbi a hundred times, but that's a special cut of short rib.

Today I braised them whole in the slow cooker - and waited as long as I could:

2 lbs. beef short ribs

1/2 cup soy sauce

1/2 cup beef stock

1/4 cup brown sugar

1/2 cup soy sauce

2 T sesame oil

5 garlic cloves

1 tsp grated ginger

2 serrano peppers

1 tsp Korean Pepper flakes

~ Mixed all ingredients and dumped them in the slow cooker.

~ Set to low for five hours. . . could have gone longer, I suppose. . .

~ Served with coconut rice, toasted sesame seeds, sliced scallions, cut serrano peppers from garden, and kimchi (love that it's in the regular grocery store now!).
